Circumcision FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
How should we prepare for the procedure?
Your baby’s safety and comfort are our priority and so preparing for this procedure is important. Please review our infant circumcision preparation instructions (add link to prep). Once your baby’s procedure has been scheduled with us, you will receive an email that includes these instructions as well.
Please note that our office will have to cancel any appointments for babies that are not prepared according to these instructions. This is for his safety.
How much is the booking deposit? Do we get it back?
You will pay a $100 deposit when you schedule your procedure.
The deposit will be applied against the procedure cost, so you will pay only the balance at the appointment.
Please note that deposits are non-refundable should a patient arrive to their appointment late, unprepared, or cancel their appointment with less than 24 business hours notice.
Does OHIP cover baby circumcision?
Elective baby circumcision is not covered by Ontario health insurance, and a referral is not required. Payment is due upon arriving at your appointment.
Should your baby require a medically necessary circumcision, please see your baby’s primary care provider to provide you/our office with a completed referral form. Referrals can be faxed directly to our office at 416-551-7171.
What is the ideal age for baby circumcision?
Anything done under 3 months of age is preferable, however, we are able to safely, comfortably, and effectively perform infant circumcisions up until the baby’s first birthday.
We have abundant experience with babies up to 12 months of age, if for some reason you cannot meet the 3-month timeframe.
